Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Special Education (SPED) teaching certification for South Carolina
  • Previous experience working with students with severe disabilities (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
  • Skilled in adapting curriculum and instructional methods to meet diverse learner needs
  • Committed to fostering a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver daily individualized instruction in a self-contained classroom for students with severe disabilities
  • Adapt and modify curriculum and teaching approaches to align with each student’s learning style and IEP
  • Monitor and record student progress, making data-driven adjustments as needed
  • Support the academic, functional, behavioral, and life skills growth of students
  • Collaborate with general education staff, service providers, and families to ensure comprehensive support
  • Participate actively in IEP meetings, contributing to plan development and implementation
  • Establish strong relationships with students, building trust and engagement
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant regulations and district policies
