An exciting opportunity awaits an experienced Special Education Teacher with bilingual (Spanish/English) skills to support a medically fragile, bed-bound middle school student in the Haverford, Pennsylvania area. This contract position is critical in providing impactful instruction and advocacy for a student who requires personalized, consistent, and compassionate educational services. The role focuses on fostering academic growth while adapting instruction to each unique need.
Key Qualifications:
- Certified Special Education Teacher (required)
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred; non-bilingual candidates are also encouraged to apply, as interpretation support may be provided
- Experience working with medically fragile or bed-bound students highly desirable
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
- Dedication to providing continuous, year-round support
- Ability to build positive relationships with families where English is not the primary language
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized educational programs, tailored to the student’s needs
- Deliver focused, engaging instruction onsite for 2.5 hours each week (further hours may become available over time)
- Collaborate closely with OT, SLP, and PT professionals as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Track student progress and provide consistent updates to parents and the support team
- Adapt techniques, materials, and strategies to the student’s abilities and circumstances
- Serve as a reliable, caring advocate for both the student and family throughout the school year
