A school district in South Dakota is seeking a Special Education Teacher to support a small caseload of elementary students with diverse learning needs. This role focuses on delivering specialized instruction aligned with grade-level curriculum while incorporating functional and life skills support as appropriate.
Schedule:

7.5 hours per day, Monday–Friday

30-minute unpaid lunch daily

Start time varies, typically around 7:30 AM

End time varies, typically around 3:30 PM
Student Population:

Approximately 3 students total
-
Grade levels include 1st, 3rd, and 5th grade

Students have higher support needs related to Autism Spectrum Disorder and Learning Disabilities

No aggressive behaviors or elopement concerns

Two paraprofessionals available to provide classroom support
Key Responsibilities:

Provide individualized and small-group instruction aligned with course curriculum

Integrate life skills instruction as appropriate between academic courses

Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)

Collect data and track student progress toward IEP goals

Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and general education staff

Participate in IEP meetings, documentation, and compliance activities
Requirements:

Active South Dakota State Teaching License with Special Education endorsement

Ability to write and implement IEPs and collaborate with related services staff

Minimum of 2 years of recent teaching experience preferred
Compensation & Benefits:
