A school district in South Dakota is seeking a Special Education Teacher to support a small caseload of elementary students with diverse learning needs. This role focuses on delivering specialized instruction aligned with grade-level curriculum while incorporating functional and life skills support as appropriate.

Schedule:

  • 7.5 hours per day, Monday–Friday

  • 30-minute unpaid lunch daily

  • Start time varies, typically around 7:30 AM

  • End time varies, typically around 3:30 PM

Student Population:

  • Approximately 3 students total

  • Grade levels include 1st, 3rd, and 5th grade

  • Students have higher support needs related to Autism Spectrum Disorder and Learning Disabilities

  • No aggressive behaviors or elopement concerns

  • Two paraprofessionals available to provide classroom support

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized and small-group instruction aligned with course curriculum

  • Integrate life skills instruction as appropriate between academic courses

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)

  • Collect data and track student progress toward IEP goals

  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and general education staff

  • Participate in IEP meetings, documentation, and compliance activities

Requirements:

  • Active South Dakota State Teaching License with Special Education endorsement

  • Ability to write and implement IEPs and collaborate with related services staff

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent teaching experience preferred

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Hourly pay: $38–$42
