In this full-time, year-round position, you’ll provide one-on-one instruction to a non-verbal student with Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI), cultivating academic and social-emotional growth. Instructional hours are from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with dedicated time from 1:00 pm to around 2:30/3:00 pm for documentation and meaningful collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Your assignment will occur onsite at a school in Mountain View, California, reporting directly to a local school district.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching credential for California
- Experience teaching students with moderate to severe disabilities, ideally with expertise in CVI and non-verbal learners
- Ability to design project-based, sensory-informed, visually adaptive, and communication-rich lessons aligned with California CTC Core standards
- Knowledge of Unique-Learning-Systems (ULS) is highly regarded
- Collaborative spirit, eager to work alongside speech, vision, behavioral, and occupational specialists
- Strong commitment to holistic, child-centered education and developing social-emotional learning in young children
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver innovative, adapted curriculum to one elementary student with unique learning needs
- Create engaging instructional experiences tailored for a non-verbal learner, focusing on accessibility and student strengths
- Observe, document, and report on student progress using both qualitative and quantitative measures
- Support social-emotional and peer interactions in group settings
- Collaborate regularly with an integrated team of specialty providers to ensure a comprehensive approach to the student's growth
