2nd Grade Elementary Special Education Teacher in Hazelwood, NC

Make a difference in the lives of young learners as a Special Education Teacher, supporting 2nd and 3rd grade students through adapted curriculum and intensive intervention strategies. This contract opportunity focuses on providing specialized instruction to a dedicated group of approximately 10 students, with the support of two experienced teaching assistants. The workweek runs Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., totaling 40 hours.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid teaching license or certification in Special Education
• Experience delivering adapted or intensive intervention curriculum in an elementary setting
• Comfortable supporting 2nd and 3rd grade students
• Skilled in individualized instruction and classroom management
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities
• Capable of fostering an inclusive and positive learning environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) utilizing adapted curriculum techniques
• Provide intensive intervention to address academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs
• Support and collaborate with two teaching assistants in daily instruction and student support
• Engage in ongoing assessment and documentation of student progress
• Communicate progress updates to parents, guardians, and educational teams
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and related activities as required
