Special Education Teacher - Helena, Alabama

Serving students in a self-contained classroom as well as those who benefit from targeted pull-out services, you’ll be an important advocate, educator, and mentor from the start of your assignment.

Desired experience and qualifications:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification aligned with K-3 requirements
• Previous experience working with young students with diverse learning needs, preferably in self-contained or inclusive settings
• Strong communication and collaborative skills to work closely with classroom assistants, related service providers, and families
• Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Creative problem-solving skills and a caring, positive attitude

Key responsibilities:

• Provide personalized instruction to 7 self-contained students, adapting teaching strategies to accommodate unique learning styles and needs
• Offer effective pull-out support for 2 students, coordinating with general education teachers to support their academic success
• Manage classroom routines, maintain a supportive and respectful atmosphere, and ensure a safe, inclusive environment
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to track progress, communicate achievements and updates, and participate in IEP meetings
• Create and update lesson plans, classroom materials, and progress reports in compliance with educational standards and regulations
