Special Education Teacher in Helotes, TX

Make a meaningful difference supporting young learners in a Self-Contained Life Skills classroom for grades EC-6. In this contract role, you'll play an integral part in shaping educational experiences and fostering growth in students requiring a specialized approach. The day runs from 7:30-7:45 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, ensuring a consistent, supportive structure for your students.

Successful candidates are experienced and passionate about special education, with a focus on providing individualized instruction and care. You’ll work closely with students, colleagues, and families to deliver an engaging curriculum, build important life skills, and help each child reach their full potential.

Qualifications:

• Valid Texas Educator License with EC-6 Special Education Endorsement
• Experience with Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) processes
• Confident in attending and contributing to ARD meetings
• Professional adherence to dress code promoting equality and community; visible tattoos covered, natural hair colors, professional attire, minimal jewelry
• Dedication to inclusive, positive classroom management

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, develop, and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) in line with student needs
• Foster an encouraging and structured environment for students requiring life skills development
• Collaborate with staff and families to monitor progress and adjust instructional strategies
• Maintain accurate documentation and actively participate in ARD meetings
• Uphold school guidelines to ensure a supportive, professional environment
