Embark on a fulfilling opportunity supporting students as a Special Education Teacher in a contract-to-hire, full-time role. This position is based in a psychiatric residential treatment facility serving students in grades 2-12, with direct responsibility for a secondary (grades 6-12) resource caseload.
You will work alongside dedicated educational professionals, focusing on providing targeted interventions and resource support for approximately 15 students. The classroom is designed to promote a positive learning environment, with additional adult staff maintaining a 1:4 adult-to-student ratio, ensuring ample support for both you and your students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction to students in grades 6-12 with Emotional/Behavioral Disorders (EBD), Other Health Impairments (OHI), and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
- Conduct assessments, develop, and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Collaborate closely with in-class support staff, therapists, and leadership to tailor educational strategies.
- Monitor student progress and record data to inform instruction and facilitate transitions to less-restrictive placements.
- Group students according to educational needs for effective instruction.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with EBD, OHI, and ASD student populations.
- Strong background in resource or specialized settings for secondary grades.
- Knowledge of current best practices and compliance with special education law.
- Ability to maintain a structured yet flexible classroom, fostering a supportive and safe environment.
