Step into an impactful role supporting students’ academic, behavioral, and social growth in a dynamic school environment near Henderson, NC. This full-time contract opportunity spans August 13, 2026, through June 3, 2027, with a Monday through Friday schedule from 7:15am to 3:15pm (37.5 hours weekly).
You’ll play a vital part as a Special Education professional across several settings—including a mild to moderate self-contained classroom, an inclusion setting for high schoolers, and a resource classroom with both morning and afternoon groups. In addition, you’ll collaborate with staff to support a small group of middle schoolers at an innovative STEM program.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid certification in Special Education.
- Experience teaching students with a diverse range of academic, behavioral, and learning needs.
- Proven classroom management and individualized instruction skills.
- Strong collaboration and communication abilities for working with staff and families.
- Comfortable with IEP planning, implementation, and progress monitoring.
- Background in English is a plus for the high school inclusion role, but not required.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver differentiated instruction to students in self-contained, resource, and inclusion settings.
- Develop, monitor, and update Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in alignment with student goals.
- Foster a positive, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Collaborate regularly with general education teachers, support staff, and administrators.
- Support students’ transitions between classroom settings, including the STEM school group.
- Track and report on student progress toward learning objectives.
