Position Details: 
Middle School Special Education Teacher (Grades 6-8)

  • Full-time, onsite position
  • Provide instruction in a self-contained classroom serving middle school students with diverse learning needs
  • Foster students' academic, behavioral, social, and functional skill development in a structured environment

Elementary Special Education Teacher (Grades K-3)

  • Full-time, onsite position
  • Serve students primarily in Kindergarten and 1st Grade
  • Classroom includes:
  •    6 students with Autism
  •    1 student with an Intellectual Disability
  •    2 students with Developmental Delays
  • Supported by:
  •    2 full-time paraprofessionals
  •    1 floating paraprofessional who assists with staggered inclusion into general education classrooms

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver individualized, standards-based instruction
  • Implement IEP goals and document student progress
  • Differentiate instruction to meet each student's unique learning needs
  • Create a positive, structured, and engaging classroom environment
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, administrators, and families
  • Support students' academic, communication, social, emotional, and behavioral development
  • Maintain accurate documentation and participate in IEP meetings

Required Qualifications: 

  • Valid Tennessee Teaching License
  • 461 Special Education Endorsement (Required)
  • Experience implementing IEPs and supporting students with diverse learning needs
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience in a self-contained special education setting
  • Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental disabilities
  • Knowledge of evidence-based instructional and behavioral intervention strategies
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative educational team
