This full-time special education teaching opportunity is based in Hephzibah, GA, working on-site at an elementary school within a supportive school district. The role focuses on providing individualized academic and behavioral support to a 5th-grade female student who is high-functioning and verbal but demonstrates significant physical aggression. This position requires a strong, experienced educator with specialized skills in managing challenging behaviors in an academic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver structured reading instruction and academic support tailored to the student’s needs
- Implement behavioral interventions to address and reduce physical aggression
- Collaborate closely with a dedicated paraprofessional assigned to assist with classroom and behavioral support
- Participate in district-provided restraint training as necessary to ensure safety and compliance
- Maintain detailed documentation of academic progress and behavioral incidents
- Communicate regularly with school staff and administrators to coordinate the student’s support plan
Qualifications:
- Must hold a valid Georgia Teaching Certificate with Elementary Special Education certification (GaPSC)
- Demonstrated experience working with students exhibiting physically aggressive behaviors
- Proven success in working within school settings to support students with special needs
- Strong classroom management and behavioral support skills
- Reliable transportation for consistent on-site attendance
Position Details:
- Contract position through May 20, 2026, starting as soon as possible
- Full-time, Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours per week
- Caseload consists of one 5th-grade student
- On-site work only
