Special Education Teacher in Hickory, NC

Make a real impact supporting students in a dynamic elementary special education setting. This contract role calls for a dedicated Special Education Teacher skilled in delivering instruction across all academic areas, with both inclusion and pull-out models. You’ll be working with a caseload of 15-18 students in elementary grades, focusing on implementing individualized education plans and collaborating with general education staff to meet student needs.

This opportunity is full-time, Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 3:30pm. The role is designed for flexibility: while there’s an option to split time between two nearby campuses (about 2.5 miles apart—with two days at one site and three at the other), candidates who prefer remaining on a single campus can be accommodated.

Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification.
• Experience with elementary special education caseloads, preferably in both inclusion and pull-out services.
• Proficiency in adapting and modifying curriculum across subject areas to support diverse learning needs.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, working well with general education teachers, families, and related service providers.
• Comfortable with managing and prioritizing documentation and compliance related to special education services.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized and group instruction in all elementary subjects in inclusion and resource settings.
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs tailored to each student’s goals.
• Track student progress and maintain accurate records for compliance and reporting.
• Foster a positive, inclusive environment that empowers all learners.
• Flexibly adapt to either split-campus or single-campus schedules, depending on preference.
