Required Qualifications & Experience:
- North Carolina General Curriculum Certificate for K-12 (must have)
- Experience as a Special Education Teacher (elementary and middle grades preferred)
- Familiarity with inclusive classrooms, resource models, and differentiated instruction
- Strong understanding of IEP development, progress monitoring, and accommodations
- Ability to work collaboratively with general educators, specialists, and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction to students with a variety of needs in K-8 settings, with caseloads typically ranging from 15–20 (maximum 25)
- Implement and adapt curriculum content to support students performing approximately three grade levels below their peers
- Develop, monitor, and update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Lead and participate in the launch and integration of the new Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) program
- Gather data and communicate student progress regularly with parents, teachers, and support staff
- Cultivate a safe, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment
