Make a meaningful impact in education by supporting students with special needs for the 2026-2027 school year. We're seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to provide instruction and support for a caseload of up to 10 students, with the assistance of experienced paras and an intervener. This contract position spans from September 1, 2026, through June 4, 2027, with hours ranging from 37.5 to 40 per week.
Ideal candidates are experienced with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and possess the required licensure to work in special education settings. The position is located at an elementary school and offers the opportunity to work collaboratively in a well-resourced environment.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active special education license (PELSB/MDE required—candidates must already be licensed)
- Tier 2 teaching status or higher required
- Experience as an ASD teacher highly preferred
- Strong ability to adapt instruction and create individualized plans
- Collaborative mindset and a passion for student success
Your role will include:
- Delivering specialized instruction and implementing accommodations for a small caseload of students
- Coordinating and collaborating with paraprofessionals and interveners to provide optimal support
- Developing individualized education plans (IEPs) in partnership with families and staff
- Monitoring student progress and communicating effectively with the broader educational team
