Special Education Teacher | Horseheads, New York

Desired Qualifications:

• Valid New York State Teaching License with high school (HS) endorsement
• Appropriate certifications for working in an Emotional Disability (ED) classroom
• Prior experience in a high school special education setting is highly valued
• Strong classroom management abilities and the ability to build rapport with students
• Knowledge of Individualized Education Plan (IEP) development and compliance
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and positive classroom atmosphere

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver instruction and academic support in a self-contained HS ED classroom
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans
• Employ behavior management strategies tailored to student needs
• Collaborate with other educators, therapists, and administrators to support student growth
• Communicate progress and challenges with parents and guardians
• Maintain accurate records and adhere to all state and school policies

Schedule & Assignment:

• Contract position from early September through early December (6–12 weeks)
• 32.5 hours per week, onsite in the Bath/Hornell, NY area—no remote work
