Special Education Teacher in Howell, MI

Multiple positions are available, offering the chance to work closely with students from preschool through 7th grade in specialized categorical programs designed to support unique learning needs.

Current openings include:

• Level 4 Categorical Program Teacher (JK - 5th, Caseload: 6-10, start ASAP)
• Emotional Impairment Categorical Program Teacher (2nd - 5th grade, Caseload: 6-12, starting January 2027)
• SXI Categorical Program Teacher (Preschool - 7th grade, Caseload: 9, start ASAP)
  All roles are 37.5 hours per week and extend through June 12th, 2027.

What we're seeking:

• Valid certification to teach Special Education in the state of Michigan.
• Experience or strong interest in working with students with diverse abilities, including social, emotional, intellectual, or physical needs.
• Capacity for patience, creativity, adaptability, and empathy.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to partner with families, support staff, and fellow educators.
• Passion for individualized instruction and inclusive education practices.

Duties include:

• Creating safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environments.
• Developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
• Managing caseloads efficiently while providing tailored interventions.
• Utilizing data and observation to inform instruction and measure progress.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support holistic student growth.
