This contract opportunity near Hudson Falls, NY offers the chance to work in a highly specialized K-12 setting, serving students with level 3 autism, severe cognitive challenges, and significant behavioral and communication differences. Classrooms follow an 8:1:3 model and are fully self-contained to meet individual needs.
The role runs Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 3:15 PM, spanning from ASAP through June 2027. You'll receive thorough onboarding and training during your first two weeks. Teachers are encouraged to come in early or stay late to manage paperwork, IEPs, and planning, with an opportunity to be approved for up to 40 hours per week. You'll be paired with an age group that suits your background best, contributing your expertise as a vital part of a dedicated team.
Qualifications:
- New York State Special Education (Students with Disabilities) license, or actively working toward licensure
- Recent graduates with a Master's or professionals with out-of-state licensure seeking reciprocity encouraged to apply
- Experience with level 3 autism, severe behaviors, or alternative/augmentative communication preferred
- Strong skills in implementing alternative assessments and curriculum modifications
- Comfortable supporting students with intensive medical or behavioral needs
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction and classroom management within a self-contained setting
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and families to support student progress
- Adapt materials and methods to meet diverse communication and learning needs
- Complete required paperwork, IEPs, and data collection per school and state guidelines
- Participate in ongoing professional development and team meetings
