Special Education Teacher | Hyattsville, Maryland

Qualifications:

• Valid teaching certification in Special Education
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Special Education or related field
• Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and staff
• Ability to adapt teaching strategies to diverse learning needs and abilities
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment

Responsibilities:

• Plan and provide direct instruction to students with a variety of learning, emotional, physical, and mental disabilities
• Develop, monitor, and update IEPs in accordance with state and federal regulations
• Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and support staff to ensure student goals are met
• Implement engaging instructional activities and modify curriculum as needed to enhance student success
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents/guardians
• Participate in professional development and team meetings to stay current with best practices in special education
