Special Education Teacher | Indianapolis, Indiana

Make an impact by supporting students as a Special Education Teacher in a contract role just outside Indianapolis. We are searching for dedicated educators passionate about creating positive learning environments for students with unique needs. Two distinct opportunities are available: Life Skills Teacher with a focus on moderate intervention, and Structured Teach (Autism Support) Teacher with a focus on mild intervention.

Qualifications:

• Current Special Education Teacher license required
• For Life Skills position, Moderate Intervention certification required
• For Structured Teach position, Mild Intervention certification required
• Previous experience with students with disabilities is strongly preferred
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Ability to create and maintain an engaging, supportive, and inclusive classroom atmosphere

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs
• Foster a positive and collaborative classroom environment
• Adapt lesson plans and teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities
• Collaborate closely with general education teachers, support staff, and families
• Monitor and document student progress, adjusting interventions as necessary
• Provide structured instruction and behavioral supports, particularly for students with autism spectrum disorders in the Structured Teach role
• Hours for Life Skills: 7:20 a.m. – 3:10 p.m. (approximate caseload 10–15 students)
• Hours for Structured Teach: 8:20 a.m. – 4:10 p.m. (approximate caseload 10–15 students)
