5th Grade 4th Grade Special Education Teacher - Ithaca, NY

This contract position begins on September 1, 2026 and continues through June 30, 2027, offering you the opportunity to contribute significantly throughout the school year. Working weekdays from 7:30am to 3:00pm (approximately 35 hours per week), you’ll split your time between co-teaching in general education classrooms and providing focused instruction through push-in/pull-out resource support.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid New York State Teaching License for K-5 Teacher of Students with Disabilities
• Experience working with 4th and 5th graders in inclusion and/or resource settings
• Knowledge of IEP development and implementation
• Ability to collaborate effectively with general education staff
• Strong communication and organizational skills

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver differentiated instruction in both inclusion/co-teaching and resource (pull-out/push-in) settings
• Adapt lessons and materials to support individual student needs and foster academic growth
• Maintain ongoing communication with families and collaborate closely with colleagues and support staff
• Document student progress, update IEP goals, and participate in CSE meetings as needed
• Foster a positive and supportive classroom climate where all students can thrive
