Special Education Teacher - Jacksonville, FL

Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students as a special education teacher in a self-contained ESE classroom. This contract opportunity is based at a single elementary campus (with potential to accommodate other preference levels) in the northwestern region of Jacksonville, FL. The assignment runs from ASAP through May 28, 2027, and offers a steady weekday schedule with 35 hours per week (seven hours per day).

Required Qualifications:

• Current FL ESE certification
• General Education certification in either K-6 or PK-3
• Prior experience working in a self-contained special education setting
• Ability to complete or verify school district fingerprinting via the AHCA Clearinghouse, with follow-up JLA badge requirements
• Successful completion of an internal eligibility interview and a virtual prescreen interview prior to selection

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead a self-contained classroom, managing students with various learning levels and exceptionalities
• Develop and implement individualized education plans in line with state guidelines and student needs
• Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom climate that encourages growth and engagement
• Collaborate with school staff, support personnel, and families to promote student progress
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and adhere to all relevant procedures

This position is fully on-site (not open to VOCO/virtual instruction) and is ideal for educators passionate about creating inclusive learning environments. The initial assignment is for one campus, providing an opportunity to become a vital part of the school’s special education community.
