Step into a meaningful role where you’ll provide specialized support and instruction as a self-contained ESE (Exceptional Student Education) teacher in the Jacksonville, FL area. This contract position is an on-site opportunity within the northwest region, working in partnership with a dedicated school focused on empowering elementary students with a wide range of learning abilities and exceptionalities. The assignment runs from ASAP through the end of May 2027, offering a consistent 35-hour workweek.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Hold an active Florida ESE certification as well as K-6 or PK-3 General Education certification
- Previous experience teaching in a self-contained classroom setting is required
- Ability to manage, differentiate, and adapt instruction for students with varying needs
- Commitment to compliance with time-sensitive credentialing, including fingerprint clearance (eligibility via the AHCA Clearinghouse and JLA badge issuance may be required)
- Must successfully complete an internal eligibility interview and a virtual prescreen interview
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a self-contained classroom, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for elementary-aged students
- Develop and implement IEPs (Individualized Education Plans), track progress, and modify strategies as needed
- Collaborate with staff, specialists, and families to ensure comprehensive student support
- Maintain records, assess student performance, and participate in professional development as required
What to Expect:
- Full-time, school-based schedule (Monday–Friday, 7 hours/day) at a single campus (location to be confirmed)
- Caseload will primarily focus on elementary students, with consideration for other preferences where possible
- Credentialing support throughout the hiring process, including guidance on fingerprinting and clearance documentation
