Special Education Teacher in Jamaica, NY

Embark on an exciting opportunity supporting young learners during Genesis Therapy’s inaugural year as an Early Intervention (EI) school. This uniquely flexible contract position is ideal for Special Education Teachers seeking part-time work that can grow into a robust full-time role as student needs and caseloads develop. You’ll work with an engaging group of 2-3-year-olds, providing meaningful instruction and intervention in both individual and group settings, with strong support from dedicated teacher assistants for each child.

Key qualifications and experience:

• Valid New York State Teaching License with a Special Education Endorsement required
• Experience working in early childhood or special education settings is highly valued
• Comfort and enthusiasm for flexible schedules, beginning with a few hours weekly and growing to a full 40-hour week as the program expands
• Strong collaboration skills to work alongside teacher assistants and other EI professionals
• Commitment to a 12-month position and a passion for early intervention work

What you’ll do:

• Provide direct instructional services to toddlers (ages 2-3) in line with their individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Develop, implement, and adjust lesson plans tailored to each child’s developmental needs
• Participate in both individual and group sessions, helping each child reach milestones
• Collaborate closely with classroom teacher assistants to foster a supportive learning environment
• Engage with families and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings as required
• Adapt to increasing caseloads by managing new students and expanded responsibilities
