Seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support K-4 students for the upcoming school year in a contract position spanning two nearby elementary schools. This role covers a maternity leave running from August 21st to May 31st. The assignment involves working with a diverse caseload of students identified with learning disabilities, other health impairments, and those on the autism spectrum. You’ll have the unique opportunity to provide tailored educational support across two vibrant school communities located within 18.5 miles of each other.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification.
- Experience with K-4 students and a range of disabilities (LD, OHI, Autism spectrum preferred).
- Familiarity with structured learning approaches such as Orton Gillingham or Wilson highly desirable.
- Ability to manage caseloads averaging 10-15 students.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams and families.
- Demonstrated adaptability when transitioning between educational settings.
Your Role and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support aligned with IEP goals for K-4 students in both schools.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans in collaboration with service providers.
- Utilize structured literacy interventions to enhance student learning and engagement.
- Maintain organized lesson plans, progress notes, and documentation.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and parents to foster an inclusive learning environment.
- Transition between campuses as needed (mileage support provided).
- Benefit from a 40-minute prep/planning period within a 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM schedule, totaling 37.5 hours per week.
