Special Education Teacher | Jersey City, New Jersey

Make an impact as a Special Education Teacher working closely with a student who benefits from personalized, one-on-one instruction. This in-person contract position provides the opportunity to dedicate 10 hours per week to meaningful educational support. You’ll work with a student who previously participated in an autism program and communicates with the aid of a device, guiding progress on established IEP goals and objectives.

Your background in special education will be essential as you create a supportive, engaging learning environment tailored to the student’s unique needs.

Ideal qualifications and experience:

• Certification as a Special Education Teacher
• Experience providing individualized instruction, particularly in a 1:1 setting
• Familiarity with working with students with autism spectrum disorders
• Skilled in implementing IEP goals and documenting progress
• Understanding and use of communication devices in an educational environment
• Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with students, families, and school staff

Responsibilities include:

• Delivering personalized, in-person instruction 10 hours weekly
• Designing and adapting lessons to help the student meet IEP objectives
• Supporting the student in developing communication and social skills using a communication device
• Providing consistent documentation of progress, challenges, and achievements
• Working alongside educational professionals to ensure individual needs are met
• Creating a welcoming and structured environment that encourages growth and learning
