Make an impact working with 7th grade students in a resource classroom as a Special Education Teacher in a rewarding, full-time contract position. This role is based near Jewett City, CT and offers the opportunity to support students as they build academic and social skills in a supportive learning environment.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Special Education Teacher
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Special Education or a related field
- Experience working with middle school students, preferably in a resource classroom setting
- Strong knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and compliance
- Ability to differentiate instruction based on individual needs
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to 7th grade students in a resource classroom setting
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal guidelines
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and related service providers to support student success
- Adapt curriculum and materials to meet diverse learning needs
- Create a safe, effective, and inclusive learning environment
- Track student progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in team meetings
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student performance and goals
