This contract position is located near Joliet, IL and runs from August 17, 2026 through Thanksgiving Break at the end of November. You'll collaborate in a vibrant educational setting, supporting 7th and 8th grade students in a co-taught science classroom alongside a dedicated general education teacher. Required Qualifications:

  • Active LBS1 Professional Educator License (PEL)
  • Previous experience teaching or student teaching in special education, ideally at the junior high/middle school level
  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with general education teachers
  • Proficiency in adapting curriculum and providing supports based on IEP goals
  • Willingness to use data-driven instruction and commit to inclusive classroom practices

Key Responsibilities:

  • Co-teach 7th and 8th grade science courses, ensuring access and accommodations for students with diverse learning needs
  • Support classroom management and differentiate instruction
  • Implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) with fidelity
  • Collaborate with general education staff, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
  • Maintain open communication with families and participate in parent-staff conferences if required
  • Fulfill required paperwork, progress monitoring, and attend relevant meetings during staff hours from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
