Embark on a meaningful contract role supporting elementary students with significant needs in a dynamic and collaborative educational setting. This position spans the 2026-27 school year, aligning with standard district calendars and offering the opportunity to make a measurable impact in the lives of 3rd to 5th graders.

You’ll work in a classroom team environment alongside three dedicated Instructional Assistants, supporting a caseload of eleven students who require individualized approaches and non-standard assessments. Your passion for special education and expertise in delivering differentiated instruction will ensure each child reaches their unique potential.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Current, valid South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) teaching license in Special Education (e.g., Learning Disabilities, Multi-categorical, Emotional Disabilities)
  • Prior experience working with students with significant needs within an inclusive or self-contained classroom is highly valued
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, families, and support staff
  • Knowledge of alternative assessment tools and methods
  • Adaptable, compassionate, and committed to individualized student success

In this role, you’ll:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans tailored to each student’s needs and goals
  • Lead and collaborate with a classroom team, ensuring consistency in instructional methods and student support
  • Monitor progress and maintain detailed documentation in compliance with district and state requirements
  • Use creative strategies and assistive technology to engage students at their developmental level
  • Foster a supportive, positive classroom environment that prioritizes student well-being and growth

This contract position offers a workload of 37.5 hours per week throughout the academic year.
