Special Education Teacher | Kankakee, Illinois

We are hiring multiple full-time Special Education Teachers for a contract opportunity from August 2026 through May 2027. This role is located in an accessible area near Kankakee, IL, and you'll join a supportive environment focused on inclusive education and student growth.

Several classroom settings are available, including a 6th-grade co-teaching position with a projected caseload of 11 students, focusing on students with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) and Other Health Impairments (OHI). In addition, there are K-3rd direct instruction roles, with a projected caseload of 10, serving students with exceptionalities including OHI, Autism (AUT), SLD, Intellectual Disabilities (ID), and Developmental Delays (DD).

Qualifications:

• Current Special Education Teaching certification for Illinois
• Experience or strong interest in co-teaching and direct instruction in K-6 settings
• Ability to collaborate with general education staff and multidisciplinary teams
• Understanding of IEP processes and delivery of differentiated instruction
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills

Duties include:

• Planning and delivering tailored instruction that meets IEP goals
• Providing co-teaching services in inclusive settings or direct instruction for specialized classes
• Monitoring student progress, conducting assessments, and maintaining accurate records
• Working collaboratively with colleagues and families to ensure student success
• Participating in IEP meetings and professional development
