High School Special Education Teacher | Kansas City, Kansas

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Kansas low-incidence Special Education licensure for grades 6-12 (required)
• Experience working in high school special education settings
• Familiarity with IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
• Strong communication, organization, and team collaboration skills
• Commitment to supporting students with diverse abilities and complex needs

Role Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and academic support to students in an intensive special education classroom
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s goals and needs
• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure comprehensive support
• Manage classroom behavior and foster a safe, inclusive environment
• Document student progress and communicate regularly with all stakeholders
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and training as required
