Special Education Teaching Positions Available

We are seeking Special Education Teachers for the next school year in Kansas City, KS. Multiple openings are available across elementary, middle, and high school settings, with both classroom-based and itinerant roles available.

This position will support students with a range of disabilities, from mild to severe needs, and requires a strong understanding of IEP development, behavioral support, classroom management, and differentiated instruction.

Pay: Based on years of experience and educational background

Responsibilities:

The Special Education Teacher will be responsible for providing individualized instruction and support to students with diverse learning, behavioral, and developmental needs. Responsibilities may include:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor student Individualized Education Programs
  • Provide direct instruction aligned with student goals and state standards
  • Modify and adapt curriculum based on student needs
  • Support students with academic, behavioral, social, and functional skill development
  • Manage caseload documentation, progress monitoring, and compliance requirements
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, families, and school staff
  • Attend and participate in IEP meetings, eligibility meetings, and team conferences
  • Implement behavior intervention plans and support positive behavioral strategies
  • Maintain strong classroom management and create a structured, supportive learning environment
  • Support students across mild, moderate, and severe disability categories as assigned
  • Travel between school sites as needed for itinerant positions

Requirements:

  • Active Kansas state teaching license w/ appropriate endorsements
  • Experience with IEPs, progress monitoring, and special education compliance
  • Familiarity with Kansas special education procedures and documentation
