Qualifications:

  • Active Wisconsin Cross-Categorical Special Education certification (License #2801) required
  • Demonstrated experience working with students on the autism spectrum
  • At least one year of recent experience as a Special Education Teacher in a school environment
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to create and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Understanding of best practices in cross-categorical instruction for diverse learners

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction, support, and accommodations to middle and high school students with varying disabilities within a cross-categorical setting
  • Develop and adapt lesson plans to meet the individual academic, social, and behavioral needs of each student
  • Work collaboratively with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to foster a cohesive learning environment
  • Administer and interpret assessments to inform instruction and track student progress
  • Manage classroom environments to encourage engagement, autonomy, and growth
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with all district and state requirements
  • Participate in IEP meetings and support families as they navigate special education processes
