Step into an impactful role supporting diverse learners as a Special Education Teacher in a contract position for the 2026-2027 academic year. This position offers a schedule of 35 hours per week, working school days with flexibility for planning and collaboration. Caseload and school assignments will be determined prior to your start, ensuring your skills align with student needs.
What we’re looking for:
- Active Louisiana Department of Education certification with Special Education endorsement (required)
- Must be fully licensed and ready to begin—no applications in process or pending licenses
- Experience in a K-12 special education setting strongly preferred
- Understanding of differentiated instruction and ability to craft individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for teaming with educators, students, and families
- Ability to meet time-sensitive credentialing requirements, including successful completion of a district drug screen and fingerprinting
Key responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and supports as outlined in students’ IEPs
- Develop and implement lesson plans that engage and challenge each learner
- Monitor and document academic and behavioral progress
- Collaborate with general education staff to ensure inclusive practices
- Communicate regularly with families and contribute to IEP meetings
- Maintain compliance with district, state, and federal special education requirements
