Special Education Teacher - Kenner, LA

Make an impact by supporting fellow educators and students as a contract special education teacher in the greater New Orleans area. Full-time, itinerant roles are available, requiring travel between schools throughout the district during the academic year. You’ll share your expertise to help teachers and students thrive in diverse special education settings.

What We’re Looking For:

• Active Louisiana Department of Education certification, including a special education endorsement
• Experience as a special education teacher (current or prior preferred)
• Strong knowledge of IEP development, progress monitoring, and data collection
• Skilled in collaborating with teachers on instructional strategies and compliance
• Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable working across multiple campuses
• Committed to supporting educational equity for students with exceptional needs
• Ability to pass district-mandated drug testing, fingerprinting, and background checks
  Please note: Only candidates who meet all certification requirements will be considered.

What You’ll Do:

• Serve in an itinerant capacity, traveling between assigned schools based on district needs
• Provide direct coaching and assistance to non-certified teachers in special education classrooms
• Guide and support in IEP writing, data tracking, and progress reporting
• Collaborate with teams to enhance instructional approaches and student outcomes
• Help ensure compliance with district, state, and federal special education guidelines
• Maintain clear documentation and communication with all stakeholders

This is a full-time contract opportunity (35 hours/week, M-F, following the academic calendar) starting as soon as possible and extending through late May.
