Special Education Teacher in Kenosha, WI

Bring your expertise and passion for special education to a contract role supporting a small, close-knit classroom. This position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact as a self-contained EBD teacher, starting 2/20. You'll work alongside an experienced aide, supporting a group currently at three students—with the classroom expected to grow to as many as six or seven. Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Valid certification in Special Education
• Substantial experience working with students with emotional and behavioral disorders (EBD)
• Ability to implement behavioral interventions and de-escalation strategies
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, including working closely with support staff and related service providers
• Comfortable managing challenging behaviors and developing individualized education plans (IEPs)
• A positive, resilient attitude and a commitment to fostering growth in each student

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction in a small, self-contained EBD classroom
• Develop and adapt curriculum, lesson plans, and instructional materials to meet students’ unique needs
• Work collaboratively with classroom aides to ensure a safe, supportive environment
• Maintain detailed records for student progress, behavior plans, and IEPs
• Communicate regularly with families, case managers, and other staff to support student success
• Foster a positive, structured classroom culture that encourages student growth and confidence
