Make a meaningful impact by supporting young adults in a vibrant, real-world learning environment! This contract opportunity is designed for a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join a collaborative 18-21 Year Old Program. You’ll be part of a skilled team, working alongside two other educators and multiple paraprofessionals to guide approximately 25 students as they develop essential work, life, and communication skills.

Set in a community-based building, the program focuses on practical, hands-on learning. Students participate in tasks that help them prepare for independence, often traveling in small groups to various local sites for job experiences and community integration.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education teaching credential
  • Experience or passion for working with young adults with diverse learning needs
  • Strong collaborative skills to work well with other teachers and paraprofessionals
  • Ability to foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Enthusiasm for guiding students as they build vocational, daily living, and communication skills

Role Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver instruction that supports students’ individual goals in vocational and life skills
  • Supervise and participate in community outings, ensuring a safe and enriching experience
  • Adapt lessons for group and individual instruction, focusing on real-world application
  • Collaborate regularly with fellow teachers and paraprofessionals to enhance program quality
  • Use data and observation to track progress and tailor supports
  • Commit to a schedule of Monday-Thursday student programming, with Fridays dedicated to classroom prep

As part of this rewarding role, you’ll work 37.5 hours each week from 7am to 3pm, with a 30-minute lunch break, and enjoy a Friday dedicated to preparation and planning.
