Special Education Teacher | Kent, Washington

Make a meaningful impact by supporting young adults in a transition classroom for the 2026-2027 school year. This onsite, full-time (37.5 hours per week) opportunity is located near Kent, WA and is specifically tailored for highly experienced Special Education Teachers. The primary focus will be guiding students ages 18–22 as they develop critical life and vocational skills to help them thrive beyond the classroom.

What We’re Seeking:

• Active Washington State Special Education certification and ESA certificate (verification must be current)
• Minimum of five years of experience in Special Education, specifically working with transition-aged youth (18–22); only mid-career professionals will be considered
• Substantial prior experience in school settings, particularly in transition programs or similar environments
• Strong commitment to empowering students as they prepare for adulthood, workforce integration, and independent living
• Excellent collaboration skills and ability to communicate effectively with families and multidisciplinary teams
• Flexibility and patience to adapt to an evolving classroom environment
• Candidates must be available for onsite work only; no remote opportunities offered

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver tailored instruction and individualized support for young adults in a transition program
• Develop and implement IEPs that meet transition-focused goals and objectives
• Collaborate with vocational specialists, therapists, families, and community partners
• Monitor student progress, adjusting strategies to meet evolving needs
• Foster a positive and engaging classroom atmosphere that promotes student growth and independence
