Special Education Teacher

Make a meaningful difference in middle school students’ lives by supporting their individual learning journeys in a Resource Learning Center setting. This contract opportunity is ideal for a dedicated Special Education Teacher seeking a full-time, in-person position with the potential to extend after the initial 90-day period.

As part of a dynamic team, you'll work hands-on with students, helping to cultivate their academic and personal growth. The assignment runs from October 5, 2026, through June 16, 2027, subject to clearance and performance review.

What you'll bring:

• Current Washington State Special Education Certification
• Experience teaching in special education, preferably at the middle school level
• Fingerprinting and background check completed with OSPI
• Two completed supervisory references available at the time of application
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Passion for fostering an inclusive, positive classroom environment

Key responsibilities:

• Develop and implement effective IEPs for middle school students
• Deliver tailored direct instruction individually and in small groups within the Resource Learning Center
• Collaborate closely with general educators, support staff, and families to support student achievement
• Maintain accurate records and comply with all federal, state, and local requirements
• Engage proactively in team meetings and ongoing professional development
• Foster self-advocacy, independence, and confidence in each student
