Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid Special Education Teaching Certification (or eligibility in North Carolina)
• Previous experience working in special education settings, ideally at the middle school level
• Expertise in either general or adaptive (separate) curriculum instruction
• Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues, families, and related service providers
• Positive, proactive approach to classroom management and student engagement
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide evidence-based instruction tailored to each student’s individual education plan
• Create a safe, inclusive classroom that promotes learning and social-emotional development
• Assess and monitor student progress, maintaining accurate records and reporting regularly
• Differentiate lessons to meet varying student needs in either a general or adaptive curriculum setting
• Work collaboratively with co-teachers, aides, therapists, and administration
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to ongoing program improvement
