Make a meaningful difference as a Dyslexia Teacher supporting special education and general education students during the 2026-2027 school year. This contract role is designed for an experienced educator with a true passion for literacy and individualized student success. The position runs weekdays from 7:45 AM to 3:30 PM, and will focus primarily on the EC-6 population, with opportunities to work with upper school students as needed. The caseload generally includes approximately 25 students, utilizing the Reading by Design program to foster measurable growth in reading and comprehension.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Texas Educator License with both Special Education and Generalist/Core endorsements
- Experience with Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) processes, actively participating in related meetings
- Skilled in supporting students with dyslexia across a mix of special education and general education populations
- Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, Reading by Design methodology
- Adherence to school community standards regarding dress and appearance (including no dyed hair or excessive piercings)
Responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted reading interventions to students with dyslexia and other reading challenges
- Manage and maintain a caseload, monitoring progress and adjusting instruction to meet individual needs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and ARD committees to design and implement effective accommodations and modifications
- Engage in ongoing communication with families and colleagues to track and support each student’s progress
- Maintain accurate records and uphold all compliance requirements in line with district and state expectations
