Step into a dynamic educational setting for the 2026-2027 school year as a dedicated Special Education Teacher serving foundational learning/life skills students in a supportive, structured environment. This contract opportunity, scheduled from 7:45 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday (37.5 hours per week), offers you the chance to support a small group of elementary-aged learners (EC-6) in developing critical skills for classroom and life success.
You’ll work with a classroom of five students, providing customized instruction and functional support. Two of your learners will benefit from more intensive, functional assistance, while all students thrive through positive reinforcement and a value-based reward system. Collaborate with colleagues and families during Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings, shaping IEPs and helping every student reach their full potential.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Texas Educator License with Special Education Endorsement
- Demonstrated experience participating in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings
- Background in foundational learning/life skills instruction (EC-6 preferred)
- Commitment to adherence to school dress code (covering tattoos, natural hair colors, professional attire, limited piercings)
- Willingness to participate in SAMA (Satori Alternative to Managing Aggression) training provided in October
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with varying life and functional skill needs
- Employ positive behavior reinforcement strategies and structured reward systems
- Attend and contribute thoughtfully to ARD and other team meetings
- Communicate progress and collaborate with families and school professionals
- Foster an inclusive, engaging, and safe classroom community
