Make an impact as a Special Education Teacher in a self-contained classroom designed for students following a functional curriculum. This full-time contract opportunity runs from August 4, 2026, through May 26, 2027, with the possibility of additional pre/post planning days. The setting features strong classroom support, including two dedicated paraprofessionals and an experienced Registered Behavior Technician. Candidates who meet performance expectations may have the opportunity to extend their assignment for the following school year.
Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education GaPSC Certification covering content through 8th grade
- Adapted Curriculum Endorsement (district may consider those with pending endorsements or credentials)
- Experience working with lower functioning, self-contained student populations highly desirable
- Strong collaboration skills for working closely with classroom support staff
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
- Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment
Responsibilities:
- Deliver differentiated instruction aligned with functional and adapted curriculum goals
- Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and monitor student progress
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals and the Registered Behavior Technician to implement behavioral and academic interventions
- Maintain open communication with parents and related service providers
- Participate in IEP meetings, staff meetings, and professional development activities
- Foster a supportive classroom culture that promotes independence and life skills
