Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting elementary students in need of specialized instruction. This full-time Special Education teaching role runs from July 29th through May 21st, 2027, encompassing pre-planning days, and centers on a close-knit inclusion classroom for students primarily in 1st and 2nd grade near La Fayette, GA.

You’ll work with a caseload of approximately 8-10 students, ages PreK to 2nd grade, with a diverse range of needs including autism, significant developmental delays, speech and language impairments, learning disabilities, and challenges around self-regulation. While toileting or diapering is not required, there is one student in the class with a toileting goal needing supervision during changes.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold an active GaPSC Teaching License
  • Required endorsements: P-12 Special Education and Dyslexia
  • Prior experience working with elementary aged children, preferably in an inclusion setting
  • Strong understanding of diverse learning and behavioral needs, with a patient and adaptable approach
  • Collaborative skills for working with fellow educators, families, and support staff

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized and group lesson plans in accordance with IEPs
  • Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment
  • Monitor and support student progress on academic, social, and behavioral goals
  • Provide supervision and encouragement during classroom transitions and activities
  • Communicate effectively with families and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Maintain organized records and contribute to IEP meetings as needed
