Bring your passion for supporting young learners to a rewarding contract opportunity as a special education teacher for the upcoming school year. This role runs from late July 2026 through late May 2027, aligning with the school calendar and beginning with essential pre-planning days. Your full-time commitment (37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:00am–3:00pm) will be dedicated primarily to working with students in grades Kindergarten through 2nd, with the possibility of an additional instructional segment in upper elementary if needed.
The position features a manageable caseload—no more than 10 students—and currently does not involve students presenting significant behavioral concerns or requiring toileting assistance. You will be empowered to create a positive, inclusive classroom experience that focuses on student growth, individualized learning, and maintaining clear and encouraging communication with both students and colleagues.
Qualifications:
- Possess an active GaPSC Teaching Credential with P-12 Special Education General Curriculum Endorsement (contact to confirm any additional requirements)
- Experience teaching or supporting students with diverse learning needs, ideally within elementary grade levels
- Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
- Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to student strengths and needs
- Deliver engaging lessons that support academic, social, and emotional development
- Partner with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
- Monitor student progress, maintain documentation, and communicate updates with families
- Participate in team meetings, trainings, and pre-planning sessions
