Special Education Teacher - La Fayette, GA

Step into a meaningful role shaping students’ futures as a Special Education Teacher in a collaborative middle school environment for the upcoming academic years. We’re seeking two dedicated professionals to co-teach alongside general education teachers, supporting a group of students with varying exceptionalities in Rossville, GA. This contract position spans the 2024-2027 school years, offering the chance to make a lasting impact.

Open Positions:

• 6th Grade Co-Teaching Math and Science (Approximately 10-12 students, ages 11-12)
• 7th/8th Grade Co-Teaching ELA and Science (Approximately 10-12 students, ages 12-14)

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with general education teachers in co-taught/inclusion settings.
• Support students with eligibility types including Autism, OHI, SLD, MID, EBD.
• Implement and document individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior plans where applicable.
• Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment.
• Participate in new SPED training (July 29th) and teacher pre-planning sessions (July 31st-August 4th).
• Work full-time, 37.5-40 hours per week (7:45am – 3:45pm), for the entire school year from August to May.

Desired Qualifications:

• Active GaPSC SPED Consultative P-12 Teaching Endorsement is required.
• Experience working with middle school students in an inclusion or co-teaching setting is preferred.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Comfortable managing fluctuating caseloads and supporting students with a range of special needs.
• No toileting or diapering responsibilities.
