Step into a rewarding contract role supporting middle school students as a Special Education Teacher in a dynamic, collaborative inclusion setting. This full-time opportunity spans from now through May 21, 2027, and is based in Rossville, GA. Hours are 7:45am-3:45pm, Monday through Friday, for a total of 37.5 to 40 hours each week.

You’ll be co-teaching Math and Science for 6th graders and ELA and Science for 7th and 8th graders. Classes typically include around 10-12 students per grade, though numbers may fluctuate during the school year. Most students are eligible under categories such as Autism, OHI, SLD, MID, and EBD. Some students have behavior plans in place, but those with significant behaviors requiring intensive interventions are generally served elsewhere. This role does not require toileting or diapering responsibilities.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid, active GaPSC SPED Consultative P-12 Teaching Endorsement is required.
  • Experience working with students in inclusion/co-taught settings across diverse special education eligibilities (Autism, OHI, SLD, MID, EBD).
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with general education teachers and support staff.
  • Skillful in adapting instruction and classroom management based on IEPs and individual needs.
  • Ability to develop and implement behavior plans as needed in a supportive, positive manner.
  • Dedicated to creating an inclusive and encouraging environment for middle school learners.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Partner with general education teachers to deliver instruction in Math, Science, and ELA for 6th through 8th graders.
  • Support IEP implementation by differentiating instruction and adapting materials.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain detailed records.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student growth and needs.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and professional development.
