A rewarding contract position is currently available to work with high school students in a lower functioning, self-contained classroom that uses a functional curriculum approach. This role is full-time, with a schedule of 37.5 to 40 hours per week, running now through May 26th, 2027—with a strong possibility to continue into the following school year for those who excel.
In this dynamic and supportive school setting, you’ll be part of a collaborative team, working alongside two paraprofessionals and a Registered Behavior Technician to foster a positive, engaging, and structured environment for exceptional learners.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active Special Education GaPSC Certification with SPED content through 8th grade
- Adapted Curriculum Endorsement required
- Consideration for candidates with credentials that are currently pending
- Experience working in self-contained, functional curriculum classrooms preferred
- Strong ability to collaborate with support staff and communicate effectively with families
- Commitment to providing individualized, compassionate instruction to students
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and adapt lesson plans for students with diverse learning needs
- Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals, behavior technicians, and support staff
- Regularly assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed
- Maintain detailed documentation related to student goals and progress
- Uphold all special education compliance requirements and participate in IEP meetings
- Foster a nurturing, inclusive environment to support academic and life skills development
