Special Education Teacher | Lafayette, Alabama

Exciting opportunities are open for three dedicated Special Education Teachers to work in a dynamic school environment for the 2026-2027 academic year! These contract positions are located near Lafayette, AL, and offer the chance to positively impact the lives of students across a range of ages and needs. Excellent support is provided by paraprofessionals in each classroom.

Positions available:

• PreK Special Education Teacher for an inclusion class of up to 18 four-year-olds, including both students with IEPs and typical peers. Two paraprofessionals assist, and the classroom operates on EST.
• General Education Inclusion Teacher: Two positions are open, one on CST and one on EST, serving K-5 students in classrooms of 11 or fewer. You’ll have the support of two paraprofessionals.
• Secondary Special Education Teacher for a self-contained class of grades 6–8 (possibly adding grade 5). The class has 5–6 students, not to exceed 10, with two paraprofessionals for assistance; this class also operates on EST.

Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification
• Experience or strong interest in working with diverse learning needs
• Knowledge of IEP process and differentiated instruction
• Ability to collaborate with paraprofessionals and general educators
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Adaptability and compassion for students of varying abilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized and group instruction tailored to students’ needs
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs
• Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families
• Provide regular progress reports
• Foster social, emotional, and academic growth in students
