Special Education Teacher | Lakeville, Minnesota

Make a difference as a Special Education Teacher working in a supportive elementary classroom. This contract opportunity is ideal for educators passionate about fostering growth and resilience in students. The assignment is set to begin as soon as possible and will run through June 11th, with the potential for an Extended School Year (ESY) extension.

You'll be working closely with five wonderful students in grades 1 through 3—four of whom have dedicated 1:1 paraprofessional support. The focus for this classroom is on providing social-emotional guidance and helping students thrive in an ASD and EBD environment. Academic levels are strong in math, while you will also lead tailored reading interventions.

Key qualifications and desired experience:

• Valid Minnesota Special Education teaching certification (Tier 2 or Tier 3 required)
• Endorsement or significant experience supporting students with ASD or EBD is highly preferred
• Experience designing and implementing social-emotional learning strategies
• Ability to collaborate positively with paraprofessionals, school teams, and families
• Flexibility and creativity in adapting to classroom needs

Responsibilities include:

• Providing individualized and group instruction based on IEP goals
• Collaborating with 1:1 paras to deliver consistent, supportive routines
• Implementing evidence-based interventions for academics and social-emotional learning
• Tracking progress, documenting outcomes, and participating in team meetings
• Communicating regularly with families and school staff

The assignment runs on a friendly 7:30 am – 3:30 pm schedule, offering predictable work hours and a chance to impact young learners’ lives daily.
