This contract role engages students in grades K-5 who present with high needs Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), offering a chance to truly impact their educational journey. With a manageable caseload of 7-9 students, you’ll tailor lessons and interventions focusing on functional communication and individualized growth.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid ASD teaching certification required
- Demonstrated commitment to and passion for supporting students requiring substantial communication and behavioral assistance
- Previous experience working with high needs ASD populations preferred
- Creative, patient, and engaging instructional style
- Ability to work collaboratively with paraprofessionals, therapists, and families
Essential Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and modify individualized education plans (IEPs) to meet each student’s unique needs
- Employ diverse instructional strategies and interventions supporting functional communication, independence, and behavioral regulation
- Regularly assess student progress and adjust approaches based on data and observations
- Foster a safe, supportive classroom environment
- Collaborate with colleagues, related service providers, and families to promote continuity and success
- Participate in IEP meetings, team discussions, and professional development as required
This assignment runs from late February through mid-June, with full-time hours (Monday through Friday, 8-hour days including a 30-minute lunch break).
