This contract assignment runs from August 24, 2026, to June 7, 2027, and offers the opportunity to work with two distinct groups: a classroom dedicated to students with multiple disabilities (MD), including those with autism, physical impairments, and non-verbal needs (9-12 students), and a classroom focused on students with emotional disabilities (ED), where implementing BIPs, social-emotional instruction, and crisis intervention strategies is essential (10-15 students). The position is in a single building, offering coworkers stability and a sense of community.
Preferred qualifications and background include:
- Valid Special Education Teacher license for the state
- Previous experience teaching students with multiple disabilities and/or emotional disabilities
- Proven ability to use individualized education programs (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs)
- Familiarity with supporting students who are non-verbal, use assistive technology, or require social-emotional strategies
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with staff and families
- Crisis intervention or de-escalation experience preferred
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver differentiated instruction based on each learner’s needs
- Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
- Manage classroom behavior using evidence-based strategies and interventions
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment to maximize student engagement
- Monitor progress and provide regular updates to parents and staff
- Participate in school team meetings and provide input on best practices
