Make a meaningful impact supporting students with diverse learning needs in a dynamic school setting near Lakewood, OH. This contract Special Education position spans the 2026-2027 academic year, offering the chance to work closely with dedicated teams and help shape positive, lasting change for students.
You’ll engage with two distinct classrooms: one designed for students with multiple disabilities (including autism, non-verbal communication needs, and physical impairments) and another focused on emotional disabilities, working with social-emotional instruction, behavior intervention plans, and crisis intervention strategies. The role is centralized within one school building, allowing you to build strong relationships and establish consistency with students, faculty, and families.
Qualifications:
- Current Special Education teaching license (required)
- Prior experience working with students diagnosed with multiple disabilities and/or emotional disabilities
- Familiarity with behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and specialized instructional strategies
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Training or willingness to learn crisis intervention and social-emotional instructional techniques
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Adapt curriculum and teaching styles to meet a variety of learner needs in both MD and ED settings
- Foster a safe, supportive classroom environment conducive to positive social, emotional, and academic growth
- Implement behavioral interventions and crisis intervention strategies as necessary
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and parents to support student success
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with school and legal requirements
This contract position follows the academic calendar, running from late August 2026 through early June 2027, with a full-time weekly schedule.
